Epivir precautions

Generic Epivir shouldn’t be taken with Cobivir, a medicine which has a combination of zidovudine and lamivudine. You must disclose to your physician your present health condition and the drugs that you are taking so that he can decide whether or not the medicine should be prescribed to you. Don’t take the medicine if you’re allergic to lamivudine.

Report to your doctor if you have suffered any serious ailments, like liver or kidney diseases, or whether you have a history of pancreatitis before you decide to order lamivudine. Avoid the medicine if you have taken any similar medicine in the recent past like didanosine (Videx), abacavir (Ziagen), stavudine (Zerit), zalcitabine (Hivid), tenofovir (Viread) or zidovudine (Retrovir).

Avoid getting pregnant if you have HIV/AIDS. The disease is likely to infect your unborn child. Take proper birth control measures. However, if you get pregnant, your name is likely to be listed in an anti-viral pregnancy registry during the start of the administration of the drug. The purpose is to track the result of the pregnancy so as to evaluate whether the drug has had any effect upon the child.
